Gauhar Khan (born 23 August 1980, Pune, Maharashtra) is an Indian model, VJ and actress, most known for her prominent role in Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009). She is the sister of television actress Nigaar Khan. In 2010, she joined the cast of the first-ever Bollywood musical, Zangoora: The Gypsy Prince at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon, where she plays the female lead opposite Hussain Kuwajerwala, along with Kashmira Irani.
Gauhar Khan was born into a Muslim family in Pune, Maharashtra. She is the youngest of 5 siblings and the sister of Indian Television and Bollywood actress, Nigaar Khan. She completed her schooling from Mount Carmel Convent School, Pune.Gauhar Khan started off with appearances in a couple of music videos.[4] She has anchored the film gossip show Page 3 on Zoom Television.[5] Recently she had participated in a popular celebrity dance show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa where she ended up as the runner up.
Gauhar Khan along with her sister Nigaar Khan appeared in a TV show "The Khan Sisters" which was Indian version of "Keeping up with the Kardashians". The show follows their life including modeling shows, auditions and interviews though the lavish setting of these starlets suggests much is staged.
In Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 she paired up with Gurmeet Choudhary, who later became the winner of the show.Gauhar started her career with the 2003 film Miss India: The Mystery. She also did an item song for the 2004 Madhur Bhandarkar film, Aan: Men at Work. She has played an important role in the Yash Raj film, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year starring Ranbir Kapoor, which was released in December 2009. Recently she did another item song Parda Parda.. which became very famous of 2010 release Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. She has also acted in a supporting role in Ishaqzaade.Varalakshmi was born in 1926 in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, India. She left home to act on stage in Vijayawada, when she was 11 years old. She acted along with drama artists Thungala Chalapathi and Dasari Kotiratnam and became popular for her roles in plays like Sakkubai and Rangoon Rowdy.
Her first movies are Barrister Parvatheesam by Producer Raghupathy Prakash and Bondam Pelli by Producer H. M. Reddy, when she was 14 years old. These two movies were released together as a two-in-one movie. She moved to Bombay to sing in chorus groups for Naushad in 1942. As her career as singer was not successful, she returned to Madras in 1946. She married filmmaker and studio-owner K. S. Prakash Rao. Her husband and she acted and produced a controversial and popular movie, Drohi. She played an arrogant daughter role in that movie.
She later acted in popular movies like Kula Gotralu, Kanna Talli and Pelli Chesi Choodu movies. She acted with all top heroes in 1940s and 1950s in Telugu and Tamil. She played roles of both the loving woman and arrogant sister or mother-in-law. She also directed a social movie Moogajeevulu. She joined politics and supported M.G.R for short time. She was active member in Andhra Pradesh Praja Natya Mandali.Before starting her career as an actress with the film Let's Dance, she performed in many competitions. During her time at Emory, she won Miss India Georgia. She was also the runner up in the Miss India USA competition. She had participated in classic English plays in college when she was in the USA performing in roles such as Irina for Chekhov's Play, Three Sisters.
After moving to India she starred in four music videos produced by Venus Films and starring herself opposite Jugal Hansraj.
Gayatri Patel’s debut movie in bollywood is Let's Dance. She has the nickname Dancing Tornado because of her ability to integrate many styles of dance.Gayatri was born in the Marathi-speaking Joshi family on March 20, 1977 In Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
She studied in Mount Carmel High School in Nagpur, and when the family re-located to Bombay, and she was enrolled in the J.B. Vachha High School in Dadar. After completing her schooling she went on to study in Sydenham College. While still enrolled there, she modeled for brands such as Godrej, LG, Ponds, Bombay Dyeing, Sunsilk, Philips, as well as with Shahrukh Khan in the Hyundai ad.. She then went on to obtain a degree in Commerce from the same college.
She was chosen as one of the five finalists of the 1999 Femina Miss India Contest, and represented India at the Miss International beauty pageant in Japan during the same year.
After this success she returned to modeling and appeared in Seasons Catalogue and Calendar during the year 2001.On August 27, 2005, she married Vikas Oberoi, the Managing Director of Oberoi Constructions, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.[3] She gave birth to a baby boy on September 1, 2006. She also gave birth to a second baby boy on 27 August 2007.
