Aditi Gowitrikar (born May 21, 1974) is an Indian model, actress and a doctor. She won the Gladrags Megamodel contest in 1996, and the Mrs. World contest in 2001, and appeared in reality television series, Bigg Boss (Season 3).Gowitrikar was born in Panvel, Maharashtra. She did her schooling in Barns High School in Panvel and her MBBS at Grant Medical College in Mumbai and graduated in 1997.[1] She started doing her MD in Gynaecology and Obstetrics after finishing her MBBS, but could not finish it as she got into the field of modellingShe started her career as a model after winning the Gladrags Mega Model contest in 1996. She also won the best body and best face prizes at the Asian Super Model Contest in 1997. She modeled for companies such as Ponds and appeared in TV commercials, including her immensely popular Coca Cola ad with Hrithik Roshan.
Since winning Mrs. World 2001, Gowitrikar continued modeling and also appeared in minor roles in a number of Bollywood and South Indian films. She has acted in the Hindi TV serial Ye Meri Life Hai and participated in reality television series such Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi (2008) hosted by Akshay Kumar, and in the reality television series, Bigg Boss (Season 3) (2009).Gowitrikar has a younger sister, Arzoo Gowitrikar, who is an electronics engineer-turned-actress.[4] She also has a younger brother Alpan Gowitrikar who is 9 years younger than her and is her personal assistant.Aditi Rao was born in Hyderabad[5] in 1978. She is from two royal lineages of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari and Raja J Rameshwar Rao of erstwhile Wanaparthi princely state of Andhra Pradesh.[7] She is the great granddaughter of Akbar Hydari[8] and the grand niece of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, former Governor of Assam. Her maternal grandfather and grandmother are Raja J Rameshwar Rao,[9] who headed the administration of Wanaparthi state during its day, and Shanta Rameshwar Rao,[9] a much respected educationist in the city of Hyderabad and is the Chairperson of publishing house Orient Blackswan. She started learning Bharatanatyam at age six she became a disciple of acclaimed dancer Leela Samson.[5]Hydari made her acting debut with the 2007 Tamil film Sringaram, in which she enacted the lead character, as a devadasi.[5] The film itself was based on classical dance, being directed by Sharada Ramanathan and produced by Padmini Ravi, two noted bharatanatyam dancers. Hydari was approached and offered the role, after Ramanathan saw her dance performance at a conference for three days.[7] The film received critical acclaim and fetched several accloades, including three National Film Awards.[7] Her first film to release in theatres, however, was the 2006 Malayalam film Prajapathi, in which she starred alongside Mammootty.[4] In 2009, she essayed a supporting role in Delhi-6, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. She has appeared in the film Yeh Saali Zindagi in 2011, for which she won the screen award.[10][11] and was seen in Bollywood film Rockstar.[12] She has also appeared in Airtel 3G advertisement in April 2011 [13] She stars in Fox Star Studios film titled London, Paris, New York as the female lead opposite Ali Zafar.[6] In this movie the actor made her singing debut by singing two of the songs.[9]Aditi Rao Hydari and Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao are first (maternal) cousins. The sisters, though very fond of each other, hardly meet given their hectic schedules.
